Cool Kids

The boys send their love to everyone. This is pictures of them dancing the victory dance for LSU and wearing their shades on the way to Italy.

January - Morano, Italy

We decided to drive to the Dolomites (mountain range) in Italy and enjoy the snow as much as possible. This area was recommended by many people Scott works with. Its near the Austria border and we were amazed to see EVERY sign in both Italian and German. Even the street names are in the Italian form (via ....) and German name (...strasse). Of all the people we saw while we were there, only one spoke English. Thank goodness we know German!

We spent three days renting sleds and going down the two plus mile-long sled run. The boys loved it (okay, Daniel loved it and Joshua had mixed feelings). We had only one horrible crash where Joshua and I flew over Daniel and Scott. Other crashes were into snow banks and actually kinda fun. One morning Joshua actually fell asleep while sleding down! Guess he needs more excitement!

On the way there, we saw many small chapels in each village. I thought they were beautiful, so I got Scott to stick his head out the window to get a picture!

As you can see, we stay in only very fancy hotels. We were excited to see that the bathroom had a bidet in it.

November and December 2007

Colmar, France - Christmas Market

November 25

We spent the day in Colmar eating and shoping among the many Christmas booths set up throughout the city. It's a city that typically has many Christmas themed shops, but the actual Christmas market was really nice. We bought a few presents and the kids were able ride the mini-ferris wheel and other rides. We don't have a lot of pictures of Joshua from this trip because he was either sleeping or grouchy. The next day he was very sick. Go figure.
Missing Daddy
Scott traveled much too much in November and December, so the boys often sent little pictures like this to him.

Metz, France - October 4 - 5

Metz is about two hours from us. Its a small city in France with beautiful churches and a canal running through it. We spent time finding two playgrounds for the kids (another country, another playground - right?).

Our hotel was directly across from the main church (the picture taken at night).

Ludwigsburg - September 29th

Ludwigsburg is a palace in southwest Germany about an hour away from where we live. In the fall, they decorated with a Noah's Ark theme. Everything was done with some sort of squash and the animals were all standing in pairs. My favorite part was the squash theme menu at the restaurant. Pumpkin soup and squash muffins with a tasty pumpkin ale....yum.

The kids favorite part was outside of the palace gates, where there is one of the coolest playgrounds around. The slide and climbing areas are built right into the trees. This is where Daniel and Joshua discovered how much fun it is to do the choo choo down the slide together. Loads of fun!
